Trust the feeling you get afterward.
Just because something makes you feel good doesn’t mean it’s truly good for you. Many people don’t give this much thought, and sometimes it can be confusing. But there’s a simple way to tell the difference: Some things feel good before you do them, while others feel good afterward. Trust the feeling you get afterward. What feels good after is what’s truly good for you. - Does drinking soda feel good before you drink it, or after? - Does eating instant food feel good before you eat it, or after? - Does exercising feel good before you start, or after you finish? - Does studying feel good before you begin, or after you’re done? The problem is, when we’re in a rush, we often choose what feels good in the moment. We need to take a pause and ask ourselves: Will this feel good afterward? If we let instinct take over, we’ll end up doing things that aren’t good for us while neglecting the things that truly matter.
